Andrew White, The Psychologist
As a Chartered and HPC (Health Professions Council) Registered Counselling Psychologist, I have spent many years researching and writing about the issues surrounding men's reluctance to engage in psychological treatment and the best ways of working with men in the treatment room. Indeed, this latter topic is the focus of my current PhD.
Professional practice, within local surgeries and hospitals in the NHS, in corporate and workplace settings, for social services and rehabilitation companies and in private consultancy, has afforded me extensive experience of working with a wide range of client groups, including men, women, couples and therapeutic groups. I am a registered provider with all the major Private Medical Insurance companies.
In addition, I have been delighted to have had the opportunity to speak at conferences, to facilitate workshops and training events and to participate in national steering panels, advising on men's psychological health issues. I have contributed to advisory documents published by the National Mental health Development Unit and am a keen to support the work of the Men's Health Forum, promoting health issues within the male population.
My very precious free time is largely consumed by full-on activities with my children, helping me to maintain a healthy work/life balance. I look forward to hear from all parties interested in helping to develop a healthier and happier society and, of course, anyone in need of professional support.
